This piece unites the Psalm 23 text with the beginnings of both the Introit of the Requiem Mass (“Requiem aeternam”) and the traditional Jewish prayer for the dead, “Eil malei rachamim.” The piece aims to highlight the universality of the experience of loss and desire to celebrate the journey of life.
