Description

The text used for this eight-voice a cappella choral work comes from two letters written by the composer's grandparents to their daughter, Faith Inglis. Faith apparently did poorly on an exam while studying at Pomona College. Her parents wrote these letters to comfort and encourage her, but also reveal amusing and poignant family characteristics. Elements of the three songs mentioned in the letters are woven into the texture: The Sunshine of Your Smile, I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles, and The Good Ship Mary Ann.
