Description
This conceptual piece, written for "an untold number of untrained singers," explores the social dynamics of compliance, forming lines, and obeying the rules in a transit hub like an airport. Singers are instructed to sing the words "we are bringing" on any pitch, and then organize in a line from lowest pitch to highest pitch before their breath gives out. Having to fulfill these requirements in one breath gives the exercise a chaotic urgency. After several such rounds, the piece concludes with quiet, individual declarations of items one might bring (or not be allowed to bring) from one country into another.
